Located on Burgh le Marsh High Street, Dobsons' Mill as it is known by to locals (named after the last miller), built in the early to mid 1800’s by Sam Oxley an Alford millwright. Purchased by the Local Council in the 1960’s to save its historical significance and prevent it from being developed and modernised by private ownership.
Today after much renovation work including a new cap and sails, the windmill is once again open to members of the public. Free guided, tours are given by knowledgeable and friendly volunteers of the Burgh le Marsh Windmill Heritage Group and vary in length with a maximum of up to 2 hours. There is no fee for these tours but donations are gratefully received and all monies raised, goes towards funding the on going maintenance work that a building of this type requires.
Children especially find the windmill fascinating, for the disabled visitor and those who find stairs a problem there is a visual guided, tour available to view in the Granary visitor centre. There is ample free car parking shared with the Windmill Restaurant.
